Position Summary

We are seeking a Laboratory Manager (LM) to join an exciting, fast growing and well-financed new company focused on developing novel gene editing therapies for serious diseases. The successful candidates will be reporting to the head of Research. Their main focus will be to direct and manages daily operation and organization of a large Research Group with ~ 100 Scientists/Research Associates. This includes directing and overseeing necessary lab purchases; negotiating pricing with external vendors (working together with Business Development); ordering lab equipment and supplies. The LM would need to work in close collaboration with all the Scientist and Research Associates to ensure all operational needs for the labs are fully supported.

Responsibilities 

  • Accountable for centralizing all lab purchases – equipment and supplies
  • Ensure a streamlined ordering process for all lab supplies including alignment with Finance for invoice processing
  • Organizing lab space and ensuring it is well maintained including restocking of common reagents
  • Oversee shipping, receiving and timely distribution to all the necessary groups
  • Work together with Business Development to negotiate pricing with External vendors
  • Manage equipment installation, service and repair
  • Accountable for ensuring Lab Compliance
  • Manage Hazardous material including bio-hazard, chemical & radio-active waste
  • Work collaboratively with Scientist/Research Associates and Finance to maintain an organized, efficient and fully functioning research labs

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ prior experience managing Research Operations in a biomedical research setting
  • Familiarity with cell and molecular biology techniques, including gene or genome-based therapies
  • Experience with laboratory supply/resupply and management
  • Experience with ordering and purchasing systems
  • Strong organizational skills and experienced with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel, as well as document management on a central file server
  • Team player, good interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience performing laboratory research in a biomedical research laboratory
  • Experience in an industrial setting preferred
