Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, Analytical Development, this position’s main responsibilities will be to develop assays for characterization and lot release of gene therapy products and to execute technical transfer of assays to internal and external parties. The position will interact closely with colleagues in CRISPR’s Research & Development group as well as external CRO’s and CMO’s. The successful candidate will have significant, broad based experience in biochemical and molecular biology assay development.

Responsibilities 

  • Independently design and execute experiments, including assay development and qualification protocols
  • Work with internal and external partners to execute assay technical transfers
  • Represent Analytical Development group across organization (including participation in matrixed drug development teams) and to external partners
  • Effective communication and timeline management
  • Assist in the establishment and oversight of the Analytical Development laboratory, including installation and routine maintenance of equipment, writing and implementing SOP’s, and defining day to day operation of the lab
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in a scientific discipline with 10 years of relevant industry experience, or a Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with 6 years of relevant industry experience
  • Broad based experience developing biochemical and molecular biology assays across a variety of formats
  • Significant cell culture experience, including both stable cell lines and primary cells
  • Prior experience with assay tech transfers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with peers and work effectively in team-oriented environment; highly organized

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with multiple immunoassay detection technologies (e.g., Mesoscale, Luminex)
  • Hands on flow cytometry experience
  • Prior experience with development and tech transfer of assays in a regulated environment
  • Experience with autologous cell therapies and/or gene therapies
