Position Summary

We are seeking a Scientist to join the Genomic Sciences group in an exciting, fast growing and well financed new company to develop novel gene editing therapies for serious diseases. The successful candidates will be integral in discovering and developing the next generation of genetic therapies for a wide range of indications.

 The Genomic Sciences group plays an integral role in CRISPR Therapeutics research pipeline, designing and carrying out Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based assays to detect and quantify gene editing. Genomic Sciences works closely with the Computational Biology team which analyzes experimental output, so the ideal candidate will be fluent in the tools and languages of both molecular biology and computational genomic analysis tools. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, attention to detail, and a desire to create important new medicines for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Design and carry out molecular biology experiments to assess genome editing outcomes
  • Develop automation-based approaches to facilitate high-throughput sequencing library construction
  • Present findings in small groups and in company-wide settings
  • Provide guidance to scientists throughout company interested in performing experiments using genomic technologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, or related discipline
  • Extensive experience designing and carrying out molecular biology experiments to address genomic questions
  • Experience with Illumina sequencing platform
  • Experience with other molecular biology techniques for quantifying DNA/ RNA (e.g. qPCR, ddPCR)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Publication record consistent with having performed high-quality work utilizing genomic techniques
  • Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with peers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in biotech, in a startup environment
  • Prior experience managing associate researchers
  • Experience with a scripting language (e.g. R, Python) a plus
