Position Summary

As part of the Stem Cell Engineering Group, we are seeking a Research Associate to join an exciting, fast-growing and well-financed company to develop novel gene editing and cellular therapies for serious diseases. Successful candidates will be integral in developing stem cell-derived therapies for regenerative medicine. Successful candidates will have strong cellular and molecular biology skills with extensive experience in gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 in human induced pluripotent stem cells. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, attention to detail, and a desire to create important new therapies for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time sensitive experiments and analyze data under the direction of a Research Scientist
  • Culture of human iPS cells including maintenance, expansion and differentiation to various lineages
  • Design and generate constructs and guide RNAs for CRISPR/Cas9 for gene targeting/editing in iPS cells by viral delivery/nucleofections
  • Perform research requiring molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA analysis, cloning, PCR, qPCR and ddPCR
  • Perform protein analysis techniques including flow analysis, immunofluorescence and western blot
  • Support in vivo studies including rodent handling, SQ/IP injections, and tissue preparation/analysis
  • Prepare research reports and present findings to internal groups

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in biology or related discipline and 3+ years of relevant research experience
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture techniques and gene-editing platforms
  • Significant experience in extraction/handling nucleic acids and downstream applications, including qPCR
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Track record of intellectually challenging oneself to enhance scientific abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a results-oriented research team
  • Highly organized with significant attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in stem cell biology or related discipline and 5+ years of relevant research experience
  • Extensive experience in maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells
  • Expertise in modulation of gene expression in human iPSC using CRISPR/Cas9
  • Prior experience in FACS, immunofluorescence and Western Blot
  • Experience working with in vivo models
